NMSA members,

I hope that you have found your way to this new NMSA website, a much improved, accessible, and modifiable web site that the NMSA board and Sally Blackstad, our tireless New Mexico Medical Society Specialty Coordinator have re-built. The original web site was owned and maintained by our previous contractor. This has fallen through, so the NMSA was obligated to find another web designer to help us create another valuable web site. Sandy Hill and Studio Hill Design in Albuquerque has done an incredible job of getting us back on-line. Although we don’t have the e-commerce portion at this point (credit card payment options for membership dues, ASAPAC contributions or Annual Meeting registration), we do have a very informative site with a lot of valuable and useful information. I thank the board and Sally for getting this going again. Please feel free to contact any board member if you see ideas for improvement, it’s definitely a work in progress.

Please, please set aside the weekend of February 27 and 28, as this earlier time is when the NMSA Annual Clinical Updates will be in 2010. We’ve gone out of the box this year, in hopes of attracting more attendees to this years meeting, in that we’ve moved it to the Tamaya Resort and Spa, north of Albuquerque. There will be an excellent program on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 including an ASA update from ASA President Alexander Hannenberg, and also an ultra-sound guided regional afternoon workshop, lots and lots of practical information, the chance to discuss current practice with many colleagues from throughout the state, and the chance to see the latest equipment and devices available from a number of manufacturers. The NMSA board strives to constantly improve each years meeting, with the previous attendee’s comments as a guide. We hope you’ll find this meeting particularly valuable.

I’d like to thank the NMSA board for all of it’s hard work over the last two years, including Dr. Les Garson, Dr. Dave Siegel, and also Dr. John Wills, Dr. Maggie Charsley, and Dr. Ruth Burstrom. I appreciate all of their efforts and suggestions to continually improve NMSA.

Keep checking this page, we will be updating and refreshing it frequently, so that you can gain access to critical information that may affect your practice of Anesthesiology within the state of New Mexico. I look forward to speaking with you at the Feb. 27, 2010 NMSA Annual Clinical Updates meeting. Save room for skiing on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, hopefully Sandia and Santa Fe will BOTH have great snow this year!!
